THE BIG DAY!

Taoray Wang was my first and only show at the main location where a majority of the shows were hosted. It’s crazy because standing in line to get into the show was an absolute nightmare and I was like, “why am I even putting myself through this?” I was starting to get sick at this point so my tolerance for the shoving and the pompous, entitled fashion week attitudes was extremely low. BUT we finally got in AND I WAS UPGRADED TO RUNWAY SEATING! I have no idea how this happened but I have to say that it was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced.  I ended up sitting next to Jeannie Mae who I grew up watching on the Style Network and is currently a co-host on The Real. She is so beautiful and down to earth and just absolutely incredible. Now for the actual show, granted I only ended up seeing two, this was hands down my favorite collection. I loved every single piece and would wear it all. The website says her clothes are designed for the powerful, professional and modern woman who wants to be stylish, elegant, and sexy. UM hello?! Perfection!   After the show was over I met up with my new friend Laura from Laura Morsman Photography for a quick post-show shoot. I had absolutely no idea that I was going to attract so many cameras! I did two interviews for two separate companies from China, had several photographer’s approach me for street style shots, and ICYMI, had some features from big names like Essence and Refinery29. This day was like a dream come true. Absolutely unreal.

I’m realizing that this really is my last post, because the next day I was sick in bed literally all day haha. So stay tuned tomorrow for my final thoughts and what I will and will NOT be doing next year.

Annnd we’re back with Day 2!

I didn’t have any shows on my second day, but I did have the StyleCollective Party! So unfortunately, there were a lot of mishaps with the party this year.  This was the first time that they hosted a night time gathering instead of a brunch so there were a lot of kinks to be worked out. I must say that although several things went wrong (they ran out of wine, cocktail popsicles, and swag bags, to name a few things) I do feel like I got my money’s worth and had a great time with some of my blogger friends.  To start the night off, I got an incredible gel manicure with foil FOR FREE in the VIP area! Honestly, this was enough to make up the cost of my ticket alone! I love the shape of my nails and my manicurist did an incredible job and was so patient with me despite my indecision (#libraprobs). Since I was coming from that important meeting I told you guys about in last night’s post, I was fresh faced and excited to get my make-up done for free as well! StyleCollective hired this really cool company called BeGlammed, who sends top rated hairstylists and makeup artists to your home. I thought this was a super cool concept and all of the stylists were incredibly nice. I just decided that I’m going to include a gift card for their services in my giveaway. If you haven’t entered yet, uh..what are you waiting for?  You better go ahead and do that here.  The rest of the night was filled with a lot of rosé sipping, taco eating, chatting, and picture taking. Honestly, the time was flying by so quickly it got late before I knew it!

I’ve so enjoyed being a part of a community of beautiful and inspiring women and turning online friends into real friends <3 if you’re interested in joining StyleCollective, let me know in the comments below and I’ll hook it up!

Hey guys!

You may or may not have noticed that I missed my Sunday post yesterday..oops. BUT, it works out because I’m bringing y’all my fashion week coverage so I thought it’d be okay if it was fashionably late. Lame puns aside, I’ve been debating about how I want to bring all of this content to you and I really want to give each day of my fashion week experience its own shine, which is why I will be bringing you content every work day this week and calling it Four Days of Fashion Week. You’re probably like, uh Ariel, there are generally 5 days in a conventional work week. Well, yeah you’re right, but I’d like to take the opportunity to share what’s going on in my life for the final post of the week.  With all that’s going on, I wanted to take this fashion week a bit easy. It also really snuck up on me TBH, which showed because I was really not prepared and started getting sick at the end which caused me to miss my final two shows. LAME!

So something I didn’t realize until I was in the midst of my fashion week activities was that I had committed to see shows that were all by minority designers. How dope is that?! And all of their work was absolutely brilliant, I can’t wait to share it with y’all. First on the bill is Gregorio Sanchez. He’s a Mexican designer who prides himself on contemporary luxurious and bold looks. He had bold accents on most of his pieces that reminded me of floral patterns I’ve seen on blankets and clothing items on various trips to Mexico, which I absolutely loved. Something I personally love incorporating into my style are pieces that really flirt with the lines of femininity and masculinity and there were a few pieces in his collection that I was ready to snatch off of the models for this very reason! Also just a quick aside, this show was part of a group of shows in an event called ‘Style Fashion Week.’ They were hosted at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum which is one of the coolest places ever! I had never been before but it had all of these cool ships and planes. I definitely recommend just going to visit sometime if you’re in NYC! Here are some of my favorite shots from the show and of the museum, because like I said, I thought this was a really cool place for a fashion show.

So I was also supposed to see Jeanette Limas on my first day of Fashion Week, but they were a little late on getting started. I’m not sure what time the show began (I left when they were running half an hour late) but I had an important meeting in the morning and a long commute ahead of me, so I had to do the responsible thing and head out. From all the pictures online, the show looked absolutely gorgeous and stunning and I am so sad to have missed it. This was also in an interesting venue! It was in an abandoned school house that had been converted to art studios and living spaces. I thought that was the coolest thing ever!

Which look is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below, and I’ll see you tomorrow for day two 🙂
