10/9: South Beach sandwich from Point Break. So I ordered really late again and my choices are limited as I mentioned and basically everyone was doing sandwiches this week so I picked this one because it was supposed to have two meats plus cheese so I was like okay! I’ll just eat the insides no biggie. THIS SANDWICH WAS SO SAD AND SMALL. You’d definitely be getting full off of the bread. The insides tasted great but I was just expecting a little more. Especially since regular menu has it for $14. Yikes.

10/10: sautéed eggplant with chicken from red moon. Guysssss I think this might be my fave place. Everything is so freaking delicious!! Again, I wasn’t thrilled about ordering this but it’s so good! I had to wait a really long time after I got there but I think they were making it fresh. The flavors are incredible. I don’t really like eggplant and I like this!! Again I don’t know where this is on the menu but guessing it’s in the 9.50 range

10/11: pulled pork sliders from point break. So the whole thing with getting sliders from here is I can’t eat the delicious looking bun and that’s such a big part of the meal. The pulled pork was pretty good though!! Not really very big portions but what can you expect from sliders. I’m gonna get fat from eating all of these fries (can’t say I hate eating em though) and as you probably could’ve guessed I wouldn’t order this again if I was just out. Ridiculously overpriced for too little food.

10/12: chicken teriyaki from red moon. Geeeezzz so.. oops. Y’all see this was from Red Moon so you already know it was freaking amazing. So amazing that I literally scarfed it up before getting a picture. My B. I would definitely order this again. If you haven’t figured it out already, just.. go to Red Moon. Just do it.

10/13: my birthday lunch!!! Chicken curry fried rice. So this was very interesting. Again, a little reluctant to pick this because I don’t like curry and it’s bad for my reflux but I was like it’s fried rice how bad could it be?? Y’all I opened it and there were raisins and pieces of fruit inside?? I was so confused and a little upset but I’ve learned by now to #trustinredmoon and believe that they’re making the best decisions for the dish. I took a bite and of course, it was delicious, buuuut I decided to eat around the raisins anyways. I wouldn’t get this again only because of the reflux issue but it was very good!!

Alright guys, sadly this will be my last MealPal with Air post. I’m currently in the midst of my final week with MealPal and all the meals I’ve eaten are repeats, so no use sharing. I hope you’ve enjoyed this and learned a little bit about what MealPal can offer you! It’s a great service if you have time to go out for lunch!! I do highly recommend it. On to my next food adventure!

So I am very sad to say that my MealPal membership will be definitely ending after this month because my new job just doesn’t allow me to leave for lunch/the choice of restaurants in the vicinity is very limited. So for the next couple of weeks you unfortunately won’t see as much variety as I initially intended, but will hopefully get a good idea of some of the options you can choose! On to this past weeks meals!

10/2: Saigon steak and rice from wok to walk. I don’t want to make it a habit of repeating places but it was my first day at my new job and I was late picking so this is what I went with . Not sure if I mentioned this before but prices are a bit obscure so this was anywhere from 8.75 and up.

10/3: sliders and fries from point break. I learned my lesson for my second day of work and picked something literally right next door. The portions are very small.. I thought I’d get at least 3 sliders. Ohhh no wonder! It’s on the menu as a $12 appetizer!! Everything tastes really good. I was able to easily remove bread which I love. Today is a day I didn’t eat a proper breakfast so I will likely still be a bit hungry after this but otherwise I’d be comfortably full

10/4: sautéed string bean with chicken from red moon. Honestly this was so freaking tasty. Yummier than I expected. Portion size was perfect and was so so delicious. This was a pleasant surprise as I wasn’t too thrilled with this choice. I couldn’t find this item listed exactly on the menu but found something similar for $9.50.

10/5: chicken Caesar salad from the red flame diner. I’ve been wary of picking salads for lunch but I can’t really complain about this. I feel adequately full and there was a good lettuce to chicken ratio. Picking out a bunch of small croutons wasn’t fun but hey what can you do!! The website says this is $9.70 and then an additional undisclosed amount for the chicken. I probably wouldn’t buy this again/think that’s a little pricey.

9/29: chicken yakitori with white rice from red moon. So this was a repeat from the restaurant earlier in the week and again, this was so so good. I really love their flavors and everything just tastes so fresh. Outside of MealPal I was starving so also bought a spicy salmon roll that was delicious as well. I can definitely see this being a place I frequent as I finish out the plan. This is an $8 appetizer on their full menu and I recommend it!

What’s up y’all?

I hope everyone had a lovely week, I can’t believe that we’re already quickly approaching October a.k.a the best month of the year. I’m pretty excited to introduce a new weekly series on my blog called MealPal with Air. If you’ve never heard of MealPal before, it’s this dope service made by the people who made ClassPass (if you don’t know what that is either, I’ll be doing a post on that in the somewhat near future) where you can sign up for a lunch or dinner subscription that allows you to pick meals from a variety of different restaurants for less than $6 a meal. LESS THAN $6! That is unheard of in NYC, especially when you can get foods like sushi or a burger from Bareburger. Everyday the restaurants will choose a certain item off of their menu to list for MealPal and beginning at 5PM the night before up to 9:30AM the following morning you can scan the map to see what you want to eat for the day. After you pick your meal, you don’t have to worry about payment or lines and can just go pick up your food! I read the list of participating restaurants in NYC and I was super psyched to try it out and wanted to share my experience as well as what I’m eating with anyone who was curious about the service because I didn’t really see too much of this when I was deciding whether I wanted to sign up. Right now MealPal lunch is offered in Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Denver, London, Manchester, Melbourne, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Sydney, Toronto, Washington, D.C. and dinner subscriptions are only in NYC and Brooklyn for now. If you live in one of those places, I highly recommend checking it out! It’s been awesome not having to worry about packing a lunch everyday and that convenience plus the price makes this a great option for me. It’s also been fun to try different places and kind of fulfill my urge to eat out so I cook all other meals at home.
The way these posts will work is I’m just going to be sharing my snap shots and notes I jotted down before/during/after each of my meals. If you’d like me to invite you to MealPal, let me know in the comments below and we’ll make it happen!

9/25: turkey burger and house salad from Tap Room 307. Burger VERY underwhelming in appearance. Bun looks beautiful but alas, I cannot eat it. House salad surprisingly tasty and very large. YAY FOR GUAC!! Wait omg this turkey burger is really tasty??? I am comfortably full. This was supposed to be $15 that’s kinda crazy.

9/26: La Parisienne from by Suzette. So honestly I’ve eaten here before and freaking love it but have never gotten this particular Crepe so I’m kinda biased already. It’s freaking delicious. Anything with cheese and also caramelized mushrooms and onions.. WOO. This thing was $8.25. Again, I feel comfortably full and tbh a lil sleepy.

9/27: shrimp tempura and California roll with miso soup from the loop. I was late picking this up and saw them packing my meal for me which was great to know it’s fresh. I feel like a dummy getting soup when it’s a million degrees out but it tastes good. I have to say I’ve definitely had better tasting rolls. Looking at the website I think this is one of their $9 lunch deals. I never feel full after eating sushi and it’s too hot to eat my soup. I’d say that my hunger is satiated but idk if I’m satisfied.

9/28: shanghai shrimp and rice noodles from wok to walk. So maybe it’s my fault for not eating an adequate breakfast but I’m starving and this looks like barely any food. Today was a day it felt really good to skip the line because it was out the door today and I am a busy gal ain’t nobody got time for that! TBH idk how their pay structure works, I think this is anywhere from $8.50 to $9+ dollars. This tasted pretty good I think? I’m not sure? I’m just starving. I don’t know how I feel but I am full and satisfied. There was egg in here and I liked that.

9/29: chicken quesadilla from el toro. I forgot to do a meal and just scrambled to pick something late last night. This is like.. more of an authentic quesadilla so it’s not really very cheesy which is how I like my quesadillas but it’s good. It’s not very filled. I’m not too hungry so that’s not a problem today. I hope this tortilla doesn’t hurt my stomach. I’m only eating pieces that have filling. Holy crap the guac and pico… actually out of this world. The tomatos red onion and cilantro are so freakin fresh holy cow.  This is normally $8.25. Hm. The pico and guac might make that worth it.
