MY FIRST #OOTD post on the blog!  It is incredibly overdue!!

So this was a really simple outfit that I had picked for brunch with some of my best friends in East Village at a place called Moonstruck Eatery.  For $15 you get a full-sized entrée, hot or iced coffee, a side, AND an alcoholic beverage!  This is like..the deal of the century. I normally wouldn’t go for a crop top for brunch (because who wants their stomach hanging out after stuffing your face with delicious brunch foods?! BEST meal of the day hands down, btw.) But I have been having some stomach issues (so sad, but not new for me unfortunately) so I knew I wasn’t going to eat too, too much.  It’s also a longer crop so my stomach was JUST covered enough for me to find it acceptable.

The first thing that Mav asked me when he saw my top was, “Did you get that from your mom’s closet?” LOL I love shopping in my mom’s closet!!  She has the best stuff!  However, this I actually got from a thrift store in Texas a really long time ago. If you didn’t know already, I am #teamleggingsarepants and I am proud!  Especially if you buy higher quality leggings like these!  I bought these from Marshalls last winter and I love them!  They are really thick, so they keep me warm, and they have the cutest golden accent zippers!  The boots I got this past fall from DSW and have been my go-to as far as shoes go.  I really need to work on expanding my shoe collection. Next OOTD will hopefully be more new and up to date clothes so I can provide you with EXACT links, but I have found some comparable items!

I love the East Village because it has a lot of really beautiful artwork on random walls like this one, and apparently has amazing brunch spots as well!  Have you eaten at Moonstruck??  What did you get?  Is it weird that I’m obsessed with knowing foods that people eat??

I love following brands on Instagram because I can always see new products or cool ways to use/style the products that I already have (and probably spend way too much money because of it).  But one thing I’ve also come to love is the ability to learn about and support small businesses.  You can find a lot of gems out there, and it’s super cool to me to be participating in helping someone’s dream come true, especially if they have a really cool product.  Shea Shea Bakery is one of these small business gems. They are steadily increasing in popularity because their product is absolutely amazing.

So the first time I saw them on Instagram I was like omg someone made some delicious looking pancakes!!!  But when I clicked on the picture and read the information further, I learned that it was actually a jar of their Pancakes and Maple Syrup Shea Butter!  So I only recently began using Shea Butter, and I am so sad that I am late to the party!  Shea Butter is a triglyceride (fancy word for fat) that’s derived from African Shea trees and is commonly used in beauty products because it is extremely moisturizing and contains awesome Vitamins like Vitamin A, K, E, and F which help protect and repair damaged skin.  In the African-American community, we love this stuff because we can also use it on our notoriously dry hair.  So this is pretty much just a magical product.  Shea Shea Bakery takes it to the next level though, and allows you to reap all the benefits of the magic while smelling like all of your favorite desserts.  I’m not kidding, probably any dessert you can think of, they have… AND IT SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE THE DESSERT.

I was having trouble deciding which flavors to go with first because I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world and love smelling like sweet things (so this brand was like a dream come true for me) so I bought all of the sample packs so I could smell every single option.  Guys each thing really does smell exactly like the food that it is modeled after.  And if that isn’t enough, you have these beautiful hand crafted jars that are made special to order with the option to add your favorite add ons like sprinkles or nuts.  This really is an exceptional high quality product that is made with a lot of care and love.  If desserts and candy aren’t really your thing, they also have several different fruits and other non-dessert specific scents like Island Getaway, a blend of berries, pineapple, and mango, or mommy’s butter, an orange spearmint blend.  In addition to all of their Shea butters, they also have other body sprays, soaps, and facial products.  Shea Shea Bakery’s products are for people of all ages and have been used by people with Acne, Keratosis Polaris, Eczema, Dermatitis, and sensitive skin.  It is important to note, however, that everyone is different and could react to things differently!

So I really want you to try out all of these amazing scents because I’m pretty sure you will love them as much as I do.  Up until August 1st, if you give the code AB at checkout, you’ll receive an instant $2.00 savings as well as a free gift included with your order so visit http://www.sheamakery.com/ and put in your order and tell your friends to do the same!!  To give you a little head start in making your choice, I’ve put my favorites so far below.
